Sea power

Sea power remained limited through most of Uclean history. Violent currents, poor navigation and the belief that the far sea was effectively infinite encouraged coastal defence vessels rather than oceanic fleets.

Geographical limits

The Between Sea forced cold arctic water through narrow passages. Coasts could be raided and guarded, but sustained long-distance operations were difficult.

Late expansion

Modern engines, aviation and improved mapping made amphibious warfare more practical in the 600s AFK. UREVAC demonstrated the vulnerability of short civilian crossings, while Operation Ballista used organised landings in the western river deltas.

Cultural effects

Because there was little perceived need for global navigation, compasses and basic maps remained dominant long after industrialisation. Acceptance of a round globe did not immediately produce a blue-water naval culture.
