Lunar calendar

The lunar calendar is the inherited @Imperial, Callandorian, Duchian and broadly Allied-Crowns system of civil time. It divides the 360-sol year into ten eidols of thirty-six sols, each containing six sixdays.

Structure

The six weekday names are Dawn, Stone, River, Ember, Field and Hearth; Hearth is the ordinary rest day. The eidols are Crown, Meltwater, Seedwake, Brightfield, Highheat, Second Crown, Redwane, Gathering, Coldreach and Starrest. These names remain provisional and may have national variants.

Solar alignment

Solar and lunar cycles realign every 180 sols. Crown and Second Crown each contain Overlap on Sols 1 and 31. Through the intervening eidols, Overlap moves six sols earlier: Sol 25, 19, 13 and 7 before returning to Sol 1.

Political meaning

The lunar calendar represents continuity, inheritance, agriculture and the administrative legacy of the old Empire. Allied-Crowns military documents often retain its eidol names ceremonially even when operations use ordinal year-day notation.
