Southern continent

The southern continent, later broadly called @Callandor, is the mostly arid land bridge between east and west.

Geography

Large mountain ranges dominate the eastern and western margins. The interior is mainly desert and dry hills, while cooler southern regions contain swamp, marsh and mangrove.

Exodus corridor

Refugees crossed Callandor after leaving @Sunmarch and Valkrun. Its eastern settlements were sheltered enough to know the northern catastrophe mainly through rumours until distant caravans arrived.

Military role

The continent remained one of the permanent fronts of the Forever War. Control of its mountain approaches determined whether armies could move between the eastern human states and the western Aelven core.
