Nature

Nature is one of the Five Burdens and is carried primarily by the Drywid. It concerns hunger, growth, decay, instinct and the pull of embodied life. Its exposed fault is conventionally identified as the @Crack of Life.

Role in Ūrkléan

At planetary scale, nature is not a personality trait but a necessary mode of continued consciousness. The healthy function allows Ūrkléan to remain one changing, feeling, embodied subject rather than a static or fragmented process. The crack emits a mistuned version of that function, which mortal souls oppose.

Overload

When too few Drywid remain, burden per body rises. Symptoms first resemble ordinary illness and ageing, then become increasingly specific to nature. The final stage weakens the connection between body and soul, reducing coherent presence even where the body remains biologically active.

Historical consequences

The political history of the Drywid repeatedly affects the global burden balance. Mass death, segregation and migration therefore have consequences not understood by the governments conducting them. The Great Cataclysm exposes this relationship most violently.
