Yellow Star

The Yellow Star is a bright golden star near Uclea's southern celestial pole. It is distinct from the Gold Sun and serves as the central navigational and political emblem of the Allied Crowns.

Navigation

Because Uclea has negligible axial tilt, the celestial pole moves little across recorded history. Travellers establish south from the Yellow Star and derive other bearings by keeping it behind or beside a specified shoulder. Callandorian tradition later compresses this into the phrase “follow the Yellow Star.”

The Exodus

Refugee caravans use the star as a shared assurance that scattered groups are still moving toward the Throat of Men. Its image appears on camp signs, counting tables and supply markers before becoming a formal flag.

Political appropriation

The Allied Crowns presents the star as an eternal emblem of unity. In reality, it originates in older Callandorian navigation and the practical needs of frightened travellers. The shift from wayfinding mark to state symbol is characteristic of Allied-Crowns historical myth.
