Halindor the Great

Halindor the Great was an Aelven officer who confronted and killed King Gwildor during the Fall of the @[Five Kings](entry:a8fe47f7-9c25-5e54-bdf2-85c161931ac5). Later traditions celebrate or condemn him according to whether they emphasise rebellion, the curse or his uncertain hesitation in the tower.

Early career

Gwildor knighted Halindor at the age of fifty, still relatively young by Aelven standards. He later became a general in the united rebellion.

Tower confrontation

Halindor climbed the final stair to Gwildor's tower. The King delivered a speech whose words were not reliably recorded. Halindor killed him before or during its conclusion. Gwildor used his final power to curse the Aelven people.

Historical interpretation

Some accounts make Halindor the decisive liberator; others imply that his action triggered the curse or that he hesitated long enough for it to be completed. Because cursed Aelven society subsequently controlled many relevant records, no neutral version survives.
