Anchordust

Anchordust is powdered anchorstone used in the Iota alternate history as an emergency treatment for consciousness fading and later as a recreational drug.

Emergency use

Inhaled dust can briefly restore phase coherence to someone crossing the Iota Limit. Powder decoheres rapidly and is less useful for sustained anchoring than intact stone.

Effects

Users experience vivid memory, emotional clarity, intensified selfhood and the feeling of being more real than usual. Dependence centres on the conviction that ordinary consciousness is not the true self.

Long-term harm

Heavy use causes memory crowding, identity hardening, obsession with returning to Uclea and possible mineralisation. Refined Uclidium shavings work so strongly that inhalation can be effectively fatal.
