Industrial Revolution

The Industrial Revolution was the transformation of Uclean production from craft, animal power and surviving magical practice toward mechanised industry, steam power, railways and later combustion and electricity. It occurred during the Forgetting and was shaped from the beginning by the demands of the Forever War.

Steam and mining

Dverg-inspired engineering, abundant coal and the need to pump mines encouraged the first large steam systems. Railways then linked mines, factories, depots and front lines. Steam eventually declined as diesel, gasoline and electric motors became more practical.

Political economy

Capitalism formed during the same broad period. Duchia became the economic core through finance and manufacturing; Krasnarus concentrated steel and heavy arms; Solerae became the transport corridor; Maritimia specialised in military labour.

War and standardisation

States demanded interchangeable ammunition, timetables, signalling and mass logistics. National incompatibilities remained severe, however, and Allied-Crowns transport relied on border procedures, locomotive changes and planned stockpiles.

Technology and lost magic

Industrial systems displaced weakened magical traditions because they could move more matter, treat more patients and reproduce effects with less specialised consciousness. By the modern period, magic appeared obsolete or imaginary even while the planet's deepest technologies remained grounded in Lodestone.
