Kaz

Kaz is the universe-being associated with the Kazean Realm and the entity remembered by the Five Kings as the Great Master. He exists at a higher scale than Ūrkléan and granted the Kings their longevity and desiring powers. Almost no mortal society knows that he exists, and even Ūrkléan understands him only imperfectly.

Cosmological position

Kaz is to Ūrkléan roughly what Ūrkléan is to a mortal: a larger conscious system whose continued existence requires active maintenance. The Kazean Realm is damaged by a fault that cannot be located through ordinary distance. Living Lodestone planets are created within it to distribute the burden of that damage.

Kaz is not the creator of all possibility. The Plane of Forms and the @Creators precede him conceptually. Other universe-beings, including Euclid, may express reality without Kaz's particular damage or need for conscious maintenance.

The Five Kings

Kaz presented himself to the Five Kings as divine. His gifts gave them lives far beyond ordinary biological limits and access to strong magic capable of summoning, erasure, true creation and true destruction. Their powers did not arise from ordinary Uclean spellcraft, which can only bias physically possible outcomes.

Gwildor's final curse is a Kaz-level act. It does not merely persuade living elves; it fixes an inherited command into the Aelven lineage and prevents Ūrkléan from entering or steering cursed elven minds directly.

Interpretation

Kaz should not be reduced to a malicious puppeteer. His scale makes centuries of mortal life brief and his own maintenance demands leave limited attention for lower worlds. He may be author-like, curious and careless rather than consistently hostile. Because Kaz-level alteration can rewrite evidence and memory, no lower being can be certain that present reality has always possessed its apparent history.
